What is Sustainability?
Sustainability has many definitions but the basic
principles and concepts remain constant: balancing a growing
economy, protection for the environment, and social
responsibility, so they together lead to an improved quality
of life for ourselves and future
generations.
Vertec BioSolvents Sustainable
Technologies
We manufacture our products with renewable
feedstocks, corn, soy, and citrus fruits. All of these are grown
right here in the United States.
Vertec BioSolvents Sustainable
Economics
Our raw materials come from within the U.S.
Borders. We are
not dependent upon other nations to supply us with raw
materials. This
has helped to sustain the U.S. economy within its borders and
not deplete the finite resources of the world. Having been supplied
from within the U.S. with U.S. resources, we can offer much
more price stability than our competitors.
Vertec BioSolvents
Biodegradability
A
“biodegradable”
product has the ability to break down, safely and relatively
quickly, by biological means, into the raw materials of nature
and naturally dissipate into the environment. These products can be
solids biodegrading into the soil (which we also refer to as
compostable), or liquids biodegrading into water. Vertec BioSlovents
products are 100% biodegrade to lactic acid and other organic
compounds, which is consumed by micro organisms in the soil,
and water.
Vertec BioSolvents Carbon
Neutral
Biosolvents are carbon neutral, even though using or
burning those releases CO2. The carbon in the
biosolvents comes from photosynthesis, where CO2 is captured
from the atmosphere by a plant and turned into glucose. The glucose can then be
turned into more complicated molecules such as sugars,
starches, oils and proteins. Sugars and starches can
easily be converted into biosolvents. Carbon is removed from
the atmosphere, stored in plants for a few months, and then
released when the biosolvents are used or burned. For every gram of CO2
released by using or burning a biosolvent, there was a gram
removed from the atmosphere by photosynthesis just a few
months ago. This perfect balance is why biosolvents are carbon
neutral.
