MT. PROSPECT, IL. Imagine a new use for corn and soybeans that could utilize millions of bushels of grain and replace dangerous ozone depleting chemicals. A U.S. Patent has just been issued on a new industrial cleaning solvent made from corn starch and soybean oil. This revolutionary product is named VertecBio Gold, and is being marketed by Vertec BioSolvents of Mt. Prospect, IL. VertecBio Gold is made from a blend of ethyl lactate, derived from corn, and methyl soyate, derived from soybean oil. A rigorous experimental protocol, recently completed at Argonne National Laboratory, has demonstrated that VertecBio Gold outperforms all conventional solvents for degreasing applications. Similar tests directed at paint stripping have also produced equally dramatic results. VertecBio Gold is being tested in many different industries including automotive, aircraft, printing, municipal, and institutional cleaning. It can serve as a replacement for mineral spirits, lacquer thinner, xylene, MEK's and other hydrocarbon degreasing solvents and hazardous chemicals. VertecBio Gold is an ideal for recirculating parts washers, engine parts cleaning, grease and oil removal, paint brush cleaning and conditioning, and farm equipment cleaning.
